ENDA NASI

My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” – Exodus 33:14

One of my former Senior Pastors, at the end of a Solemn Service, would always start the hymn…
Tunaomba Uwepo uwende Nasi… .

And would you know… it’s such a hard and rough space to be in if you don’t allow the Lord’s leading—born again or not.

Moses understood this better than anyone. In Exodus 33, after Israel’s rebellion with the golden calf, God told Moses that He would send an angel to guide them, but He Himself would not go along. To many, that might have sounded like a good deal—protection, direction, and progress. But Moses refused to settle. He insisted, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.”

Why? Because he knew that without God’s presence, there is no real security, no real identity, and no true fulfillment. The Promised Land without the presence of the Promiser would not be worth having.

That is the reality of our own journeys.

We were created for a purpose, but that purpose is not discovered in self-effort, success, or striving. It is only learnt and gotten from aligning ourselves to God’s will.

Life outside His presence may appear full, but it leaves us restless. Life in His presence, even in the wilderness, brings peace, direction, and meaning.

Think of it this way: we may have strength, but without His presence, we lack guidance. We may have plans, but without His presence, we miss alignment. We may have resources, but without His presence, we have no assurance that we are on the right path.

The hymn my Pastor used to start still rings true for every believer: Lord, let Your presence go with us. This is not just a line to sing at the end of a service; it is a daily cry of dependence.

For in His presence, we find the courage to face what lies ahead, the wisdom to make the right decisions, and the rest our souls truly long for.
