“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Psalm 90:12
MARA YA KWANZA
People have been posting this very funny voice note that says, “It’s the first time all of us are living this life, so watu wapunguze advice…. I chuckle every time I hear it. It’s humorous, yet it carries a strange kind of truth. Sometimes, I think people share it out of exhaustion—life can really drain you—but other times, I believe it’s a cry of honesty. We are all figuring life out as we go. No one has done this before. Indeed, it’s our first time on earth.
And that’s exactly why we need God’s wisdom. The Psalmist’s prayer—“Teach us to number our days”—reminds us that life isn’t a rehearsal. You don’t get to rewind, redo, or edit the script. Every day counts. Every choice, every moment, every relationship, every act of kindness or silence—these all shape the story we’re writing, mara ya kwanza na ya mwisho.
Sometimes we look around and feel everyone else has it all figured out. The truth? Nobody really does. We’re all learners in this classroom called life. The difference is in who’s teaching us. When God is your teacher, He gives you perspective—He shows you what truly matters.
When you walk with Him, you begin to live intentionally, not just react emotionally.
Maybe what we need more of is encouragement, grace, and patience—to others and to ourselves. Because we’re all navigating our “first time” through joys, heartbreaks, disappointments, and surprises.
Live with purpose. Laugh often. Forgive quickly. Learn deeply. And most importantly—walk closely with God. Because while this is indeed our first time living this life, it doesn’t have to be lived without direction.
He remains the Ancient of Days—the One who has seen all days before yours and after yours. Trust Him to guide you through this first-time journey.

Hallelujah
Walk with God trust Him in all
