“You shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you…”2 Chronicles 20:17
Today, I start at where we ended last week, where I talked about, if God is for us, nothing can be against us. And we said, if the Lord is on our side, nothing can prevail over us. To stretch that thought, I am reminded of a time that I was running this business, and though it seemed small and not located in the best of places, I chose to rely on God’s mercies and favour to allow me grow in that space.
Every single time — okay, wache nisidanganyane — every time I remembered, I used to make prayer for that hustle. And I saw it grow. Of course with a lot of support from family and friends, it made strides that nikitaja hapa, pengine watanitafuta juu ya ushuru. But I fully was depending on God. Not upon my very professional staff, or diligent management and marketing skill. No, it was not that. It was that we trusted in God and He allowed us flourish.
We saw different similar businesses coming up, but I remember my staff proudly saying, “Hata wafanye aje, hii yetu imemwagiliwa mafuta.” We were set apart.
But the secret was trusting in God and the God we believed is to be Trusted.
I know people may have looked down upon us, tukikula vumbi, and wonder what I was doing there. But to date, I carry very important lessons that have kept shaping the rest of my career life, and the sustainance that carried us through, not to mention Friends that became family. Sharon wa Loyd, n many more of you!
And this is why I love the story of King Jehoshaphat. Because Jehoshaphat trusted God beyond his human capabilities.
The Bible says in 2 Chronicles 20:17: “You shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you…” Imagine being surrounded by armies, overwhelmed by enemies, and God tells you, “You will not need to fight.” Human logic says prepare weapons. Human understanding says panic. Human wisdom says retreat. But faith says trust God.
Jehoshaphat did something very powerful. He admitted that he did not have the answer. Earlier in the chapter he says:
“We have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.” — 2 Chronicles 20:12
That is the posture of a man who trusts God.
Some of us only trust God when things make sense. But real trust is when the numbers do not add up, when the doors are not opening, when people are doubting you, when the environment is uncomfortable, but you still declare, “My eyes are upon the Lord.”
And I came to realize that in life, God will sometimes place you in situations where your experience cannot save you, your connections cannot rescue you, and your intelligence cannot explain the outcome. So that when victory comes, even you will know, “Surely this one was God.”
There are battles you cannot win with strategy alone. There are doors that no qualification can open. There are seasons where favour becomes more important than strength. And when God decides to show Himself strong, even those who mocked your process will begin to wonder how you survived.
The beauty about trusting God is that He does not need ideal conditions to bless you. He can make water come from a rock. He can prepare a table in the wilderness. He can make a forgotten place become a place of testimony.
People may have seen struggle around us, but they did not understand the grace upon us. They saw dust, but they could not see the oil. They saw limitation, but they could not see the hand of God sustaining us.
And somebody listening to me today, you may feel outnumbered like Jehoshaphat. You may feel delayed. You may feel uncertain about tomorrow. But if God be for you, who can be against you?
Trust Him with your family.
Trust Him with your business.
Trust Him with your future.
Trust Him even when the evidence is not visible yet.
Because God is not a man that He should lie. If He carried you before, He will carry you again. If He opened doors before, He will open them again. If He sustained you in difficult seasons before, He will sustain you again.
The battle is not yours.
The battle belongs to the Lord.
And when the Lord arises for a man, no force of hell can stop what God has ordained.
May we become people that trust God beyond our capabilities, coz GOD IS TO BE TRUSTED
May our confidence not be in horses and chariots, but in the name of the Lord our God.

I have tasted and have found that God is to be trusted!!!
