FULFILLMENT

You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” – Psalm 16:11 (ESV)

We all get fulfillment in various things, forums, or activities.

Sometimes it’s that warm meal shared with family, the laughter in a long conversation, or the satisfaction of accomplishing something after hard work.

Yesterday night, after attending a Mashakaya and squeezing in a small trip in between, I bumped into one of my Clergy Friends. We stood outside in the cold just talking kidù 2hrs. It wasn’t planned, but it was so refreshing.

And as we were parting, I joked:
“Na by the way Rev, mbona hatukuingia Quickmart na ni 24hrs? Tungekunywa chai hapo mos mos…”

It’s those kinds of moments—unfiltered, real, unhurried—that fill the soul. Moments where you’re not performing or preaching, just being. Talking. Laughing. Remembering. Listening.

I like those moments. When with a friend, you can share openly and freely. No masks. No pressure.

Now, let’s pause right there. That kind of liberty—emotional and relational liberty—is something God designed us to enjoy. But sadly, in today’s world, liberty is often misused. It becomes an excuse to slide into habits that enslave rather than free.

People chase fulfillment in drunkenness, loud parties, endless noise, toxic relationships—looking for something to fill the void inside. And while it may seem “fun” for a night, it often leads to deeper emptiness, shame, brokenness.

The truth is, fulfillment that is not rooted in God is always temporary and often leaves us thirstier than before.

  • Where do you find your fulfillment?
  • What’s your true source?

If you’re honest, you’d admit: even after the party, you still feel the void. Even after the promotion, you still long for peace.

Even after many followers, there’s still that whisper of loneliness. That’s because we weren’t created to be fulfilled by “things.” We were created to be fulfilled by a Person—our Creator.

Psalm 16:11 tells us:
“In Your presence is fullness of joy.”

Not half-joy. Not momentary excitement.
Fullness. A joy that fills and stays.

So as you reflect today, ask yourself:
gives me true fulfillment?
Is it just social connection or is it spiritual connection?
Is it momentary freedom or eternal peace?

Let your heart be anchored in the only Source that never runs dry.
Because in His presence, you’ll find what you’ve been looking for all along.
