YOU ARE NOT EVEN READY

Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more.

Genesis 37:5

Now Joseph was the governor of the land… So when Joseph’s brothers arrived, they bowed down to him with their faces to the ground.”

Genesis 42:6

Yesterday while ministering, something happened. Something I hadn’t thought of, hadn’t prepared for, hadn’t even considered—just dropped in my heart like a whisper from Heaven.

And the Lord reminded me… His Rhema Word doesn’t need our schedule. It doesn’t ask for permission. He speaks—timely, in unity, and always with purpose.

In our services, we usually follow lectionary readings—so you’d think it might limit how the Spirit moves. But no, God’s voice isn’t caged by calendars or liturgy. In one service I spoke about Being Shaped for Purpose. In the next, my friend and fellow servant of God, Rev. Shikù, preached on Living a Purposeful Life. Same Spirit, same direction, no coordinated themes. Tell me God doesn’t know what He’s doing!

But now… back to Joseph.

Joseph had a dream. A divine one. A glimpse of his future—his brothers bowing to him. He shared it, full of youthful wonder. But instead of celebration, he faced hatred, mockery, and rejection. They called him a dreamer—but not in admiration. And then… they threw him in a pit.

Now let me ask you something.

Have you ever thought about this? The very act of throwing Joseph into the pit—those same brothers who said, “We will never bow to you!”—had to physically lower him into that pit. They had to bend down, bow slightly, even momentarily—to place him below them.

What they didn’t know was… prophecy had already begun.

They thought they were ending his dream. But in that moment, they initiated it. You see, God doesn’t wait for a stage to start your purpose—sometimes it begins in a pit.

Later, during the famine, years had passed. The dream seemed dead. But Genesis 42:6 says, “They bowed down to him with their faces to the ground.” The dream didn’t die—it just had to take the long road. A detour through slavery, betrayal, prison… but it found its moment.

Here’s what I came to tell someone today:

You aren’t even ready for what God has already prepared.
You’ve seen pieces in dreams, you’ve felt inklings in prayer… but you haven’t even scratched the surface of how far He’s going to take you.

Because when God gives a glimpse, it’s never for your timing, it’s for His glory.

Joseph didn’t know the pit would be part of the promise.
He didn’t see betrayal coming from those closest.
He didn’t plan for prison before the palace.
But purpose was already in motion.

So don’t despise the pit. Don’t run from the pain.
And when people around you say, “We’ll never bow,” just smile.
Because God has a way of using the same hands that threw you down, to lift you up.

You’re looking at the surface—but God is playing the long game.

So I repeat: You aren’t even ready.

But He is.

True 💯. Sometimes a dream or a purpose is initiated in the most difficult and challenging way, probably to discourage, but with God, that situation becomes a projectile towards that purpose.
