THE PLACE OF HONOR

“Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.” – 1 Peter 2:17 (NKJV)

Honour isn’t always easy. It’s simple to show respect to those we admire—but what about when we don’t feel like it?

What about when someone has let us down, hurt us, or doesn’t seem to “deserve” it?

Yet, Scripture calls us to something higher: honor all people. Not just the lovable ones. Not just the agreeable ones. All. That includes difficult coworkers, distant spouses, unfair leaders, or that one person who always pushes your buttons.

Honour doesn’t mean blind agreement or pretending things are perfect. It means choosing grace over grudges. It’s recognizing the image of God in others—even when it’s hidden beneath layers of brokenness or pride.

When we honour people, especially in tough relationships or under flawed authority, we reflect the heart of Christ—who washed Judas’ feet, dined with sinners, and submitted to the cross.

Let’s choose to carry honour as a posture of the heart, not just a reaction to those we like. It’s not always deserved, but it’s always powerful.
