“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” — James 4:8a
I was talking to a very close friend whose abroad and as we were catching up, I could hear a lot of background noise. I was just about to share something exciting—si you know those moments when a ka story is burning inside you, waiting to be told? Then they said, “Just a minute.”
And I wandered to myself… how many times has God wanted to have fellowship with us—through prayer, through His Word, through that quiet nudge of His Spirit—but we give Him the “Just a minute” response?
“Lord, let me finish this errand.”
“Just a minute, let me check one more message.”
“Just a minute, I’m too tired today; maybe tomorrow.”
Before we know it, the “Just a minute” becomes an hour… a day… a week. And the sweet moment of fellowship is lost.
Yet God longs for us. He says, “Draw nigh to Me and I will draw nigh to you.”
He isn’t asking for what we don’t have; He is asking for what we already carry—our hearts, our attention, our time.
Think about it: if a friend waits on the other side of the line for your response, how much more is our Heavenly Father waiting when we keep Him on hold? The tragedy is not just that we delay Him—it’s that we miss out on the peace, strength, and joy that come only from His presence.
Fellowship with God is not an interruption; it is the very fuel for our lives.
The enemy of our souls knows this, that’s why he fills our days with noise, distractions, and endless to-do lists. But God whispers, “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).
Today, may we pause and ask ourselves: what “Just a minute” excuse is keeping me from drawing near to God? Is it busyness? Is it fatigue? Is it misplaced priorities?
Beloved, the truth is—there will always be errands. There will always be background noise. But the moments we give to God will never be wasted. He meets us in prayer, strengthens us in His Word, and renews us in His presence.
So the next time God prompts your heart, don’t delay with “Just a minute.” Instead, say: “Yes Lord, here I am.” And you will discover what it truly means for Him to draw near to you.

Amen Amen
This is very encouraging if we draw near to God He will draw near to us
