“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.” – 1 Corinthians 9:24
I was attending a Training Guide preparation yesterday evening for all our Darasa Ministry Classes… very elaborate structure by the way…you should come or ask what we are up to.
Whueeeeh… Kutangulia sio kufika… let me tell you.
So my Friend n Partner presented our bit and we felt proud… wait until my good friend who we call Daktari presented… I felt we needed to go back to square 1… n start afresh.
Something came to my mind… the first will be last.
You see, it is possible to start well but still miss the mark. The Bible often likens our walk with God to a race—not a sprint, but a marathon. Many begin with zeal, but along the way, distractions, pride, or complacency can cause them to falter. Being first to start does not guarantee being first to finish. And even finishing is not the whole story—the call is to finish strong.
Finishing strong means guarding against pride when we think we’ve “made it.” It means being willing, like I felt after Daktari’s presentation, to humble ourselves and go back to square one if necessary.
It means allowing God to shape us through discipline, correction, and growth so that the work of our hands aligns with the heart of His Kingdom.
Missing the mark is not just about failing to complete the race—it is about losing focus on why we are running. Jesus reminds us that the last may become first because they kept their eyes on Him, not on applause or position.
So, Kutangulia sio kufika. The challenge is not just to begin ministry, not just to finish ministry, but to finish in such a way that Christ Himself says: “Well done, good and faithful servant.” That’s the true prize.

Kweli am pressing on and keeping my eyes on Jesus
Amen ad amen
We purpose to finish strong
God be our guide
