Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV)”Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”
Yesterday, I had a heart-to-heart with a good friend. One thing he said—though innocent—really struck me. He told me how he’s still using an old phone, even though he bought a new one last year in June… Wooiii….Cheki Attachment Issues. The old phone has a cracked screen, it’s sluggish, its memory is full, and the operating system is outdated.
But he insists it “works for him.” He’s attached to it. Comfortable with it.
I chuckled quietly, but it hit me hard: how often do we hold on to broken things just because we’re used to them?
We cling to past pains, nursing old wounds that no longer serve us. We replay past failures, thinking they define who we are now.
Some of us are still living in last season’s struggle, even when God has already handed us a new beginning.
Friend, God is doing a new thing in your life. But to receive it, you have to let go of the old. Healing begins when we release.
Freedom starts when we surrender. Peace flows when we stop rehearsing old hurts.Don’t let familiarity keep you in bondage. Let go of the broken, the outdated, the painful—and make room for God’s fresh grace.
