CHOMA SUFURIA

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.” – Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV)

Yesterday we were conducting an interview, and one of the things the candidates were meant to prepare was a dish commonly known as Choma Sufuria. Clearly, one of the candidates didn’t know what that was. So, when he prepared his dish, he did something completely different. During the assessment and presentation of the cooked foods, a panelist asked him, “Did you know what you were supposed to make?” We all burst into laughter—including the candidate—when a different Panelist responded with a genuine remark “Woooiiii… Ginya nyanya na dhania!” He had done what he thought was right, even though it missed the mark.

God approves of you.In moments like these, it’s easy to feel exposed or inadequate. But just like we embraced that candidate with laughter and grace, God looks at us with eyes full of understanding.

He’s not surprised when we miss the mark—He knew our limitations before we did. And still, He calls us chosen and set apart.

God doesn’t sit back.He is not passively watching your efforts, waiting for you to get everything right. He is actively walking with you, cheering you on, and covering your gaps with His grace. His love is not withdrawn when you don’t “cook” what was expected.

God knows your name. You are not just a number or another face in the crowd. You are known. You are heard. You are loved and cherished. You are not being second-guessed.

So even when you feel unsure, misunderstood, or like you brought the wrong “dish” to life, remember: God sees you—and He’s smiling.
