SHOPPING LIST

– “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

We all, at the end of a month, sit down, do budgets, and draw up a shopping list. Sio?
We make sure we fit in all essentials—unga, mafuta, sugar—so that we won’t run dry in the middle of the month. We double-check the list, because nothing is worse than realizing you forgot something important.

But let’s be honest—no matter how hard we try, hakutakosa kakitu kamoja kanaisha by the 20th… or even earlier, and sometimes when the timing is completely wrong. That salt, tissue, or cooking oil will suddenly run out when guests have just arrived.

Here’s the question—how come we sometimes treat God like that forgotten item on the list?
We go to Him only when there is need. We call, cry, and pray urgently when “stock is low” in our lives—when the job is shaky, health is failing, or bills are piling up.

But in the days when our shelves are full and everything seems to be working, our prayers can become short, rushed, or even forgotten altogether.

God’s desire is not to be our “emergency store.” He wants to walk with us daily—in the abundance and in the lack. Just as you’d keep replenishing your supplies before they run out, He wants us to remain connected before we hit crisis.

Remember—His Word says He will meet all our needs according to His riches in glory. But that promise is not just for the moments of shortage—it’s for every season of life. The real blessing is in learning to seek Him before we have a need, to keep Him at the center when shelves are full and when they’re empty.

Today, don’t wait for the “20th moment” to run to God. Make Him your first stop, not your last resort.
