“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food… yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.” — Habakkuk 3:17–18 (NIV)
About a month ago, I lost a close friend—Bob—in a devastating accident. Alongside him, three innocent children lost their lives. I was speaking with his wife, the other day, survivor of the crash, along with two of her other children. As I searched for words to comfort her, she told me with so much confidence, “Hata kwa haya yote… God is on the throne.”
Even if it’s that hard… God still reigns.
“Even if…”
Two simple words that carry deep weight. They remind us of what faith looks like when life breaks our hearts.
Even if He doesn’t answer now… He is still God. Our faith is not measured by the speed of His answers but by the strength of our trust when heaven is silent.
Even if I have to wait a little longer… I will trust His timing. Delay is not denial when the Author of time holds your story.
Even if it’s a really tough season… I will not let go. God is not absent in the storm—He is present, steady, and sovereign.
Even if I don’t understand why… I will still praise. Because faith is not about having all the answers—it’s about trusting the One who does.
Even if the world shakes around me… I will stand on the Rock. The throne of heaven is not moved by our pain; it stands secure as our refuge.
Even if my heart is breaking… I will believe He is close. Scripture says He is near to the brokenhearted—He collects every tear.
Even if everything changes… He does not. He remains faithful, kind, just, and good.
“Yet I will rejoice in the Lord.” That was Habakkuk’s declaration—and it can be ours, too.
Even if… God still is.
