Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Make a fiery serpent and set it on a pole, and everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.’ So Moses made a bronze serpent and set it on a pole. And if a serpent bit anyone, he would look at the bronze serpent and live.” — Numbers 21:8–9
Look and Live — this was the charge given to Israel in the wilderness. A people poisoned by venom, helpless to save themselves, but God provided a way. All they had to do was look at the bronze serpent lifted high. Not strive, not toil, not pay a price — just look, and they would live.
Look and Live — I was blessed yesterday in service, when Rev. Shikù gave this justice.
The words kept echoing in my spirit the whole day. I found myself asking: Where have I not looked above and found my help?
Too often I focus on the weight of my struggles, the noise of my challenges, forgetting the simple call — to look up to Christ, my help and my healing.
Look and Live — beyond my struggles. Not denying they exist, but choosing to fix my gaze higher. When Peter looked at the waves, he sank, but when his eyes were fixed on Jesus, he walked on water. Struggles lose their power when I lift my eyes to the One who is greater than them.
Look and Live — beyond my sinful nature. To deny the flesh its cravings is not about willpower, but about focus. Sin feeds on attention. But when my eyes are set on Christ, His Spirit gives me strength to overcome. Grace empowers me to say no to ungodliness and yes to righteousness.
Look and Live — not forgetting what He has done. Gratitude keeps the heart alive. Every testimony is a reminder that He is faithful. Every answered prayer is proof that His hand is still working. To look back at His faithfulness is to gather courage for today and hope for tomorrow.
A Hymn is sung….
Tazama ishi sasa… kumtazama Yesu. alinena mwenyewe, haleluya! utaishi ukitazama
“And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself” (John 12:32).
Life flows when we behold Him. Healing flows when we trust Him. Victory flows when we cling to Him. Look and Live — that is the invitation.
Not once, not occasionally, but daily. In the middle of my journey, in the weight of my battles, in the quiet of my heart, the call is the same:
Look up, fix your eyes on Jesus, and live.
