“In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common use. Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.” — 2 Timothy 2:20–21 (NIV)
Vunja zote, pesa zinachunwa kwa miti. Is that a common phrase that you have ever heard 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I saw those cups on a friend’s status and couldn’t help but laugh with nostalgia — vikombe za wageni!
You remember those? The fine cups that lived at the top of the cupboard, reserved only for special visitors. And the sahani za Kaulo that were handled like treasure. If you ever dared to wash them as a child, you’d almost put a mattress under the sink — just in case!
Because Whueeh! breaking one could turn the whole house upside down.
But here’s the question — before God, what kind of vessel are you?
See, in every home, there are different kinds of vessels — some for daily use, others for honor. Some you use to feed the chickens, and some you place before the guests. God’s house is no different. He, too, has vessels — people He uses in different ways. Some carry His glory, some carry His grace, some carry His truth. But all of them have one thing in common: they were once ordinary until the Master set them apart.
Maybe you feel like that old chipped cup in the back corner of the shelf — overlooked, forgotten, or too “common” to be useful. But here’s the truth: God doesn’t throw away vessels; He restores them. He refines them, cleanses them, and prepares them for noble use.
You may have been through fire, but that’s how He purifies gold. You may have felt crushed, but that’s how He molds clay. The value of a vessel isn’t in its shape or color — it’s in whose hands it belongs to.
So when Paul says, “If anyone cleanses himself… he will be a vessel for honor,” he’s inviting us to yield to God’s cleansing — to let Him wash away pride, bitterness, fear, and sin. Because purity determines purpose.
Some of us are so close to being used mightily by God, but the residue of yesterday’s habits still lingers in the corners of our hearts. And the Master cannot pour living water into a vessel that still holds yesterday’s dirt. Are we still together, Dear Reader??
Today, God is asking — what kind of vessel will you be?
A vessel of complaint or of thanksgiving?
A vessel of gossip or of grace?
A vessel of pride or of humility?
He doesn’t demand perfection; He desires readiness. When the Lord finds a willing vessel, He fills it to overflow. He uses it to bless homes, to heal hearts, to restore nations.
You may not be the Kaulo cup, but if you are clean and available, heaven will pour through you.

🤣🤣🤣
My prayer be a vessel ready to be used of God
Waaaau 👏👏👏
Purity determines purpose 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
