“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Prov 18:21
This week has been one of those heavy weeks that remind you just how real life is, how fragile moments are, and how deeply we are connected to the people God places in our lives. A Very Good Friend of Mine lost their Mother, and it shook me because She was not just someone I knew from a distance. I had sat with Her, visited Her severally, shared moments of fellowship, and listened to Her wisdom. I remember Her words so clearly. She once told me, “You told me your name is Kimani, in these times that you people are living in, you need to stand out in character, you need to stand out in integrity. The Lord blesses such. The Lord blesses integrity, the Lord blesses character.” And She encouraged me to keep serving God, saying She had lived long enough to see that those who truly serve the Lord are never put to shame. That is how I will remember Her, a voice of wisdom, a reminder of what truly matters.
But even in the weight of such moments, there is something the Lord keeps placing on my heart, and it is this: speak blessing over your life. Speak blessing over your life. Because as human beings, we go through so much, we encounter different voices, different opinions, different situations that try to define us or limit us. Sometimes we find ourselves waiting for validation from people, waiting for someone to tell us who we are, what we can become, or whether we are enough. But there is a truth we must hold onto, that everything you need, everything you are meant to become, God has already placed inside you.
When God created you, He did not leave you empty. He planted a seed of greatness within you. He gave you capacity. He gave you ability. He gave you grace for the journey ahead. And that is why it is important not just to believe it quietly, but to speak it boldly. There is power in your words. There is power in what you declare over your own life. So instead of agreeing with fear, instead of echoing doubt, instead of repeating what negativity says, you must make a conscious decision to speak life, to speak grace, to speak favor.
I still hold onto what I have been saying since the beginning of this year, that this is a year of Abounding Grace for Open Doors. And I am seeing it, not just as an idea, but as something God is actively doing. My Wife, Beryl, reminded me of something I spoke back in 2021, and today it is unfolding. And it brought me back to this simple but powerful truth, that when you remain connected to God, when you stay anchored in Him, He will begin to show you things, even things ahead of your time. But those things do not just happen by chance. They are nurtured in prayer. They are established by what you speak. They are brought into manifestation when you align your words with what God has already said.
That is why this is not just encouragement, it is a call to action. Every single day when you wake up, make it a habit to speak blessing over your life.
Do not allow the first voice you hear to be negativity. Do not allow the weight of yesterday to define your today. Stand up and declare life. Declare grace. Declare favor. Even when you do not see it yet, speak it.
Even when it feels distant, speak it. Because God is still speaking, God is still working, and God is still fulfilling every promise He has made.
So lift up your eyes. Refuse to settle into discouragement. Refuse to let circumstances silence your faith. Your promise is still alive. Your future is still held in God’s hands. And as you go through this week, let this be your posture, to continually speak blessing into your life, to cover your days with prayer, and to trust that the God who began a good work in you is faithful to complete it.
Speak blessing over your life, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
